A Brief History of the Joint Mathematics Meeting (JMM)
The storied collaboration between the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the American Mathematical Society (AMS) dates back to 1916 when their meetings were held consecutively. Recognizing the benefits of their alliance, both organizations started hosting joint meetings soon after, which eventually culminated in the formal establishment of the Joint Mathematics Meeting (JMM) in 1980.
Since its inception, the JMM has grown exponentially to become the largest annual mathematics meeting in the world, attracting scholars, researchers, and practitioners from various specializations within the mathematical domain.
From 2022 onwards, the AMS has taken the reins on the logistical management of the event.
